Coronavirus - COVID19

Centre Rules

Last Updated: 22 Oct 2020

We’ve had to make some changes to Erdington Leisure Centre, to ensure the safety of you and our team. We invite you to read the following code of conduct to better understand these changes before you visit. As government guidance changes, we’ll make sure these are updated to keep you informed.

We are now asking all our facility users to wear face coverings in non-activity areas, such as reception, corridors and changing areas. Face coverings are not required while you are working out. We appreciate your understanding while we follow the latest government guidance.

Please note: The content of this page is shared across a number of facilities operated by the same operator as Erdington Leisure Centre. Not all sections will be relevant to Erdington Leisure Centre customers.

Please note that your contact details will be shared with NHS Test and Trace in the event of the notification of a positive Covid-19 test in close proximity of your visit. Please use the free NHS COVID-19 app to check in to the centre, be alerted if you have been near other app users who have tested positive for the coronavirus, help you understand the symptoms and book a free test and get your results.

Gym Code of Conduct

Pre-Booking

Use of the gym and workout classes is via pre-booked slots only. You can pre-book your session via the MoreFitness App or your local facility website.

Gym slots are available to book 7 days in advance in one-hour sessions. This includes access time and a 5 min turnaround period at the end of the session.

Members can book double sessions; we ask that you turn up within 10 minutes of your allocated start time to allow for others arriving at the same time to maintain social distancing within reception areas.

Session times for studio classes will be as per the booking to a maximum of 45 min to allow for changeover and cleaning between classes.

You can cancel up to 2 hours before the start of your session time. Failure to cancel your session will incur a ‘did not attend’ record. Any member not scanning or registering in for 3 sessions in a single month period will have their booking rights withdrawn for a period of one week.

Anyone over the age of 14 years of age can make a booking to use the gym and studio.

Anyone age 12-13 years can make a booking to use the gym and studio, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Swimming Lesson Code of Conduct

We’ve made some key changes to our swimming lessons. Below you'll find some essential updates that you should read before you visit us:

  • The latest information on your swimming lessons login to the More Academy portal here https://serco.courseprogress.co.uk/. If you have forgotten your password there is an option to reset it on the web page.
  • Only one adult should attend with a child, to reduce the number of people in the building.
  • Pupils will be required to attend lessons already changed in their swimming costumes. This will avoid the need to use the changing rooms prior to the lesson starting.
  • Parents and carers may be asked to attend lessons in the water with younger children (only one adult, per child).
  • We ask that all our facility users to wear face coverings in non-activity areas, such as reception, corridors and changing areas. Children under the age of 11 do not need to wear a face covering in the facility.
  • On arrival, there will be a one-way system in place, directing you and your child to your lesson.
  • We have reduced some of our class sizes to meet social distancing guidelines.
  • Swim Teachers will be required to teach from the poolside and maintain social distancing from pupils at all times.
  • Lessons will run for 25 minutes to allow you to access and leave the pool area within the lesson timings.
  • We have increased the amount of equipment that the children will use, and this will be cleansed in chlorinated water between each group. The use of inflatable armbands will not be used, and swim discs will replace these if your child requires them for their ability level.
  • All pre-school stage 1 children will be required to wear arm discs.
  • We may run fewer lessons within the pool at one time to allow for both children and swimming teachers to social distance. This may affect the times we are able to offer customers.
  • Lesson times may be staggered, so there may be fewer classes starting and finishing at the same time.
  • No other activities will take place in the same pool when lessons are on. This will create additional space that will be required to accommodate lessons and maintain social distancing requirements.
