The Swimming Scheme

Ducklings

Your child's journey through aquatics starts with a programme for developing early-years water confidence, encouraged through sessions such as ‘adult and child’.  Emphasis is on the giving children the confidence from the word go and teaching the core skills needed to learn the four main strokes through fun and games.

Stages 1-7

These stages take your child through developing fundamental movement skills, teaching children to swim the four strokes encouraging fun and enjoyment in the water to help children learn. Learners should be able to swim 25 metres by the end of stage 7.

Stages 8-10

These stages are for the more competent swimmers. They are discipline-specific and build on the swimming skills learned in Stages 1-7. Key areas of focus are building sport specific (diving, water polo or synchonorised swimming etc) skills and extending the skills and abilities of young swimmers and introducing Rookie Lifesaving and snorkelling. They have been developed with the grass roots programmes of the individual sports so are great if your child wants to take up competitive swimming, water polo, synchro, or diving.

How do I get started?
